Defending the Second Amendment & Protecting Constitutional Rights
The Second Amendment is not just about firearms—it’s about freedom, self-defense, and the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution. In Upstate New York and the North Country, responsible gun ownership is part of our way of life, and the government should not infringe on law-abiding citizens’ right to protect themselves, their families, and their property.
As I explore a run for Congress, I believe in standing firmly against unconstitutional gun restrictions and protecting the rights of responsible gun owners in NY-21.
The Second Amendment: A Right, Not a Privilege
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
This right was never meant to be conditional. It was designed to empower citizens to defend themselves—against crime, against tyranny, and in times of crisis.
In recent years, we’ve seen increasing attempts to chip away at these rights, including:
❌ Unconstitutional gun bans and restrictions
❌ Unfair permit requirements that punish law-abiding citizens
❌ Efforts to limit concealed carry rights
❌ Excessive regulations on ammunition and firearms ownership
Government overreach doesn’t make us safer—it hurts law-abiding gun owners while criminals continue to ignore the law.
Standing Up for the Second Amendment
I believe in real solutions that protect public safety without infringing on constitutional rights. That means:
✅ Supporting National Concealed Carry Reciprocity – Responsible gun owners should not have to navigate a patchwork of state laws just to exercise their rights.
✅ Opposing Unconstitutional Gun Bans – Blanket firearm bans punish law-abiding citizens while failing to address the root causes of crime and violence.
✅ Expanding Mental Health & Crime Prevention – We should focus on enforcing existing laws and expanding access to mental health services, not restricting the rights of responsible gun owners.
✅ Protecting Hunting & Sports Shooting Traditions – In Upstate New York and the North Country, hunting and recreational shooting are deeply embedded in our culture. We must protect these traditions from unnecessary government restrictions.
The Constitution: A Document Worth Defending
The Second Amendment is just one part of a larger fight—defending all of our constitutional rights. The government should never infringe upon free speech, religious liberty, or due process, yet we see efforts across the country to silence voices, restrict freedoms, and erode the very foundation of our Republic.
The Constitution is not a living document that changes with political trends—it is the guiding law of our nation. As I explore this run, I am committed to ensuring that we uphold, defend, and fight for the rights our Founders put in place.
