Border Security & Immigration: Protecting Our Nation, Strengthening Our Communities
America is a nation of laws and opportunity, but without secure borders, we cannot ensure safety, economic stability, or a fair immigration system. In Upstate New York and the North Country, border security is not just a national issue—it’s a local issue, impacting our economy, law enforcement, and communities.
As I explore a run for Congress, I believe we need stronger border enforcement, legal immigration reform, and policies that protect American jobs and public safety.
The Crisis at Our Borders
Right now, our borders are not secure—and we’re seeing the consequences firsthand:
❌ Record-high illegal crossings overwhelming law enforcement and local communities.
❌ Drug trafficking—fentanyl and other deadly drugs flowing across the border, fueling addiction and crime.
❌ Human trafficking—cartels profiting from a broken system while innocent people suffer.
❌ Strained local resources—states and towns forced to deal with a crisis they didn’t create.
Despite these challenges, Washington refuses to act—allowing failed policies to put American families, workers, and law enforcement officers at risk.
Securing the Border & Fixing the System
We must secure our borders first. A nation that cannot control its borders cannot protect its people.
✅ Finish the Wall & Strengthen Border Technology – We need physical barriers, drones, sensors, and stronger enforcement tools to stop illegal crossings and drug smuggling.
✅ Support Law Enforcement & Border Patrol – Our officers and agents are stretched thin. We need more personnel, better funding, and stronger laws to help them do their jobs.
✅ End Sanctuary Policies & Close Loopholes – Cities and states should not ignore federal immigration laws. We need to stop catch-and-release, tighten asylum laws, and hold criminal illegal immigrants accountable.
✅ Protect Legal Immigration – We should welcome those who follow the rules and contribute to our economy. That means reforming our visa system, improving worker programs, and ensuring American jobs come first.
Why This Matters for Upstate New York & the North Country
Border security is not just a southern border issue—it affects our district right here in NY-21.
📍 The U.S.-Canada Border: We share an important border with Canada, and weak enforcement creates national security risks. Ensuring secure, efficient border crossings protects trade, tourism, and jobs.
📍 Fentanyl & Drug Trafficking: The drug crisis is devastating our communities, and most fentanyl comes from cartels smuggling across the border. We need tougher enforcement to stop these deadly drugs.
📍 Impact on Jobs & Wages: Illegal immigration hurts American workers by driving down wages and taking jobs away from law-abiding citizens. We need an immigration system that puts American workers first.
Time to Take Action
We must enforce the law, secure the border, and create a legal immigration system that works. Anything less puts our safety, economy, and future at risk.
As I explore a run for Congress, I want to hear from you:
📢 How do you think we can improve border security?
📢 What immigration policies matter most to you?
It’s time for leadership that puts Americans first. Let’s work together to fix our broken system and secure our future.
